Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse

Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse has enjoyed a rich twenty-seven year history of services to those living with mental illness in Henderson County. The Clubhouse wanted to insure a full continuum of services would survive mental health reform and was the founding program of Sixth Avenue Psychiatric Rehabilitation Partners, Inc. in 2006. We are a privileged partner to those living with mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse, their families, and the local commnuity.

Clubhouses are intentional communities and are driven by meaningful relationships, meaningful work, a place to belong, and a place to return. Members and staff are engaged side by side in the running of the Clubhouse. We offer a prevocational work-ordered day Monday through Friday, Social and Recreational programming on evenings and weekends, and are open on all holidays. The Clubhouse also offers any other services desired to assist members in accessing their local community.

Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse is a charter member of the International Center for Clubhouse Development and is engaged with more than 300 Clubhouses around the world. Today’s mental health reform and best practice elements were pioneered by this model and continue to be sustained in certified Clubhouses. Those include: person centered services, peer support, the utilization of natural supports, skill training and acquisition, supported education, supported employment, a least restrictive environment, strengths based. All of these elements are centered in a recovery and wellness philosophy and promote community integration.
