SIXTH AVENUE
PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION PARTNERS

Sustained Partnerships and Services Integrity

The Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Partners was established in September 2006 and currently includes three program areas: Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse, known as the Clubhouse, Assertive Community Treatment [ACTT] and Community Support [CS]. Our agency serves individuals with chronic mental illness that is causing significant impact on their ability to function in every day life. We are the only adult non-profit mental health provider in Henderson County.

The Clubhouse provides a daily structure and a life giving community for all of its members, including an opportunity to achieve stability, learn and practice everyday skills, develop relationships and rejoin the world of employment and education. The clients function in a warm and friendly home setting and have qualified staff in attendance who can meet their individual needs.

Assertive Community Treatment [ACTT] provides comprehensive services for the individual most greatly impacted by mental illness with the goal of achieving and maintaining stability outside of a hospital setting. Clients are seen regularly and have a close working relationship with qualified professional staff.

Community Support [CS] provides client services that are intended to connect them with the appropriate resources throughout our community for all of their needs and to allow them to utilize those services adequately.

Sixth Avenue West Clubhouse and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Partners' impact on the community is to provide security and stability for the mental health population. Our members are an untapped resource for the community. Through Clubhouse participation, they become capable of being active citizens and making individual contributions to the community. Once employed, they tend to never miss work. ACTT and Community Support staff through direct intervention, substantially reduces the involvement of law enforcement [an average of twelve hours per incident] and emergency room staff to handle crisis situations. The cost to support one client in the ACTT program for a month is estimated to be the equivalent of a 2.5 day stay at North Carolina's state hospital.
